Description of Product Quality Chemist

Scope of Duties:
• Works with Operations and Technical to establish the sampling requirements, frequencies and test methods.
• Develops and implements laboratory operations, HSE and quality control procedures
• Conducts complicated sampling and analysis with skill
• Demonstrates and supervises analysts on the safe sampling and testing of highly pressurized toxic hydrocarbon gases/liquids and chemical solutions with high H2S content such as sour Amine and Tri-Ethylene Glycol (TEG) solutions using full PPE gear including breathing apparatus
• Prepares reagents for standardization
• Budgets and selects lab equipment s with supporting software and supplies.
• Monitors stocks and coordinates the procurement of materials
• Prepares schemes justifications & monitors budgets variances
• Commissions and troubleshoots equipments.
• Interacts with the vendors and coordinates all related maintenance activities
• Manages the laboratory information management system (LIMS)
• Communicates and interacts with other departments and organizes analytical activities accordingly
• Provides laboratory support during commissioning and start-up
• Issues reports and ship loading certificates of quality
• Participates in failure investigation and root cause analyses
• Executes training programs and monitors the progress of his subordinates

Skills required for Product Quality Chemist

Minimum Requirements:
• University degree in chemistry/chemical engineering/chemical technology (minimum BSc.)
• Experience of 10 + years in gas/oil and petroleum industry
• Has a vast knowledge of chromatography, spectrometry, wet chemistry, related calibrations and analytical calculations
• Experience in all sampling techniques and handling highly pressurized toxic gases and liquids
• Knowledge of the hazards and HSE procedures in sour gas plants and analytical laboratories
• Experience in calibration, troubleshooting and maintenance of laboratory instruments such as gas chromatographs, SCDs etc…
• Application of statistical techniques for validation of methods and equipments
• Experience in managing LIMS systems
• Experience in the development of laboratory policies and procedures
• Well familiar with Standard testing methods
• Computer literacy. Networking and electronics knowledge is desirable
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills, with positive attitude, organization and clear ownership of issues.
• Ability to prioritize and reprioritize work quickly
