Drilling Fluids Specialist
Location: All Locations

Job Description
The Drilling Fluids Specialist provides onsite services associated with measuring and testing the drilling fluids and supervising the mixing and pumping operations. Activities also include performing technical analyses and making informed recommendations for controlling fluid properties.
This position reports to the Field Services Manager, Location Manager, or Operations Manager.

Responsibilities

Reviews fluids program in order to prepare orders and mixing plans.
Writes procedures for mixing and handling of products.
Gathers samples and performs tests to determine trends and identify contaminants.
Records test results to identify trends.
Interprets property-test data to establish required treatment or action.
Determines cause of fluid, hole, or system problems to assist in treatment recommendation.
Determines chemical treatments required to optimize drilling parameters.
Advises clients on potential treatments or improvements to the fluid system based on data analysis and mud testing.
Recommends solids-control processes to ensure economic removal.
Supervises rig personnel performing chemical additions and recording drilling fluid parameters.
Manages product inventory to ensure availability.
Maintains required environmental discharge and consumption records.
Monitors daily drilling operations to reduce or eliminate problems associated with drilling fluids.

Qualifications

Education requirement varies with country assignment: High school diploma, or equivalent, to master's degree.
Experience requirement varies with assignment: 3 to 15 years of experience.

Geophysicist
Location: All Locations
Description:

The Geophysicist evaluates and interprets geophysical and seismic data together with geologic evidence to provide best-of-class results and services to our clients. Expertise is applied to locate appraisal and development wells, analyze interpretations, and work is performed within multidisciplinary teams, mainly in client offices.

Responsibilities:

Condition well data for seismic data processing and for integration within projects.
Apply geophysical interpretation for prospect development or as an input to geologic models for fluid flow simulation.
Interpret seismic data for multiple purposes depending on project requirements.
Use inversion data to calculate reservoir properties and to establish background or low-frequency model and velocity trends for inversion of seismic data to absolute acoustic impedance.
Generate synthetics, perform well tie analysis, and build velocity models by integration of well- and seismic-derived velocity fields and trends, depth conversion, depth residual analysis, and associated uncertainty for depth prediction.
Perform structural analysis for fault, fracture, and regional structural style identification.
Analyze fault sealing properties and trapping mechanism.

Qualifications:

Minimum of bachelor's degree in geophysics, earth sciences or physical sciences.
Minimum 5 years of experience in a seismic interpretation position
Familiar with geologic and geophysical portfolio and services of Schlumberger Information Systems and general understanding of the product portfolio.
Understanding of direct and geostatistical modeling techniques (neural networks, classical statistical methods, etc.) at application level.
